2013 Dedication to the Minnesota Lynx

The Rotary Club of Plymouth supports programs and focuses our fundraising efforts on youth & education and community health (highlighted by our Heart Safe Program) Heart Safe trains citizens in “hands only” CPR and promotes efforts to have AED’s available all around the community. In conjunction with our new basketball fundraising theme using miniature basketballs as our “raffle tickets”, we would like to honor an organization who has exemplified our ideals. That organization is the Minnesota Lynx who are celebrating their 15th year in 2013 and are the only major Minnesota professional sports franchise to win a championship in that period, winning the WNBA championship in 2011 and losing in the championship series in 2012. They are a good bet to vie for another championship in 2013. In addition to their athletic prowess these ladies spent the full four years in their respective colleges focusing on their education (no one and done for the ladies). The players are also very active in the community. Throughout the 2013 season, Minnesota Lynx players and coaches will make over 150 appearances around the Twin Cities area. These appearances include FIT events, Reading Time-Outs, basketball clinics and many other local events. It is our pleasure to dedicate our 2013 fundraiser, Score Points for Youth, Education & Community Health to a group of women who embody those objectives. We thank them for the past entertainment and thank them for being so involved in volunteerism in the community which is so closely aligned with the motto of Rotary worldwide…Service Above Self.
