WE NEED MORE SPEAKERS NOW.

Please let us know if you know of a good speaker for our club.  We have the letter prepared to send to you in word format so all you need to do is address it and sign and send it to the speaker confirming the date. We  also have thank you gifts in the form of our Rotary Luggage tags.
MEMBERSHIP:
WE will need to greet Dave Durham into the club. He is from Neptune Cremation Society. It is expected that he will be inducted into the club at his next meeting attendance.

We also have a mentorship program going again!
If you feel you want to be a mentor or you feel you want a mentor contact James. He can pair up mentors and mentees.
If you are feeling generally demented contact Glen or John.
Happy hours will be starting again soon and they will meet you for a beer or coffee and commiserate as your colleagues and co-presidents are able to do.

DISCOVER PLYMOUTH WAS ON 4/23/22 FROM 9:00 AM TO 2:00 PM

PLYMOUTH ROTARY had a booth there at Discover Plymouth and after Mayor Wosje gave the State of the City speech he joined us at the booth. It was a great event. John, Peter, Steve, Norm, Russ, James and others were there too staffing the booth and meeting people to market the club. They made a great team and told many people what our club has been doing for Plymouth for all these years.  Our great Realtor Tony Farah had a booth right across the aisle and that was synergistic. We were pleased to meet his whole family.

Heart Safe Note:
Two Thursday evening trainings, May 19 and May 26, originally planned for the Public Safety Building, were double booked on the city’s room reservation system.  We have had to change our training locations for both trainings.

The Medicine Lake Conference Room in City Hall is our training location for Thursday, May 19th. Steve Marti’s suggestion here is that we do not announce a change in location for this training but that when the participants come in through the PSB entry door one of us merely redirect them to the Medicine Lake Conference Room where the training will be conducted.

The May 26th training will be held at Fire Station 1, 13205 County Road 6, Plymouth, MN 55441. (See email below). Special parking instructions will have to be communicated along with the change of locations.  I will be going with Steve Marti to Fire Station 1 ahead of the training to set up the AV.

We had a great presentation to the Plymouth City Counsel where our Heart Safe Committee gave the City the Automatic Electronic Defibrillators. They will be used in the new City Center.

CPR Training
On April 27 there was a huge training that the Heart Safe team put on. It was a HUGE SUCCESS of course. Here is the graduation Photo:

TALKING POINTS:

What is Rotary and WHY WOULD ANYONE CARE?
Rotary is a philanthropic organization that has a core group of committed volunteers in nearly every developed city in the world, who work to make their community a better place.
Here are 3 reasons for your friends to care:
  1. If you have moved here from somewhere else, and you join a local club, you can plan and do projects involving friends locally with those from anywhere you came from.
  2. Or for another example, when your local food shelf needs something, or someone, who can they ask and where do volunteers come from? Rotary Clubs supply money and volunteers for all sorts of our community charities.
  3. Rotary tries to measure everything with its four-way test. 1) Is it the truth? 2) Is it fair to all concerned? 3) Will it build good will and better friendships? 4) Will it be beneficial to all concerned? If something fails in any of those dimensions, it does not meet Rotary’s high-quality standards. We have been honored and welcomed to join.

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY
The Object of Rotary is to encourage
and foster the ideal of service as a
basis of worthy enterprise and, in
particular, to encourage and foster:
First The development of
acquaintance as an opportunity for
service;
Second High ethical standards
in business and professions, the
recognition of the worthiness
of all useful occupations, and
the dignifying of each Rotarian's
occupation as an opportunity to
serve society;
Third The application of the ideal of
service in each Rotarian's personal,
business, and community life;
Fourth The advancement of
international understanding,
goodwill, and peace through a
world fellowship of business and
professional persons united in the
ideal of service.

Our application and materials are in for Javier! We will know about our latest hurdle soon and that is when it is all funded! This is a fantastic opportunity for us to interact with the British Rotary Club, Javier as he goes through his latest level of higher education, and the district committee as they finalize the funding of the grant. Carol has led us through a difficult process to a great result. Many thanks to Carol.

If you are receiving this Bulletin and you are no longer a member, or never were a member, the reason it is coming to you is that we want you to consider becoming a member now. We want you in our club. If no one has personally said it recently, consider this your invitation to come as soon as you can. You are important to us.

Carol would like to build a schedule to deliver donated flowers to assisted living and nursing homes. Flowers are available Thursdays at 8:30 am at Trader Joe's, 11220 Wayzata Blvd. (Hopkins Crossroads and 394).  Email Carol Parrish  cjparrish1029@msn.com
