This is how people felt who missed the parade, when they found out what they missed, I know from experience!
As a valued member of our Rotary family, I want to personally invite you to the 2023 Rotary 5950 District Conference!
When - Saturday, October 14th, 2023 (9:30am-5:30pm)
Where – The beautiful Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chaska
Why - Here are just a few things we have in store for you:
Nature Meets Adventure: Take part in the Amazing Race Scavenger Hunt in the morning — a fun-filled, 3-mile journey that promises both challenge and camaraderie. Or, relax and enjoy the Arboretum at your own pace.
Learn & Grow: Don't miss the enlightening educational talk in the morning by Arboretum naturalist, Matt Schuth, and in the afternoon, be one of the first to learn about the ground-breaking mental health app, Cadre, from its creator, Luke Wendlandt.
Meet Miss Minnesota 2023: Rotarian Angelina Amerigo!
Storytelling Magic: Gain insights from Gail Rosenblum on the art of impactful storytelling — a skill every Rotarian can develop!
Re-Connect & Engage: Visit our House of Friendship in the morning, engage with fellow Rotarians during the afternoon programming, and wrap up your day with a refreshing Happy Hour Social.
We've curated the perfect day for meaningful connections...for a full schedule, click HERE
This conference is more than just an event; it's where our Rotary community comes alive!! Embrace the spirit of Rotary, reconnect with old friends and meet new friends, learn, and most importantly, have fun!
Note: The District is now soliciting the annual meeting of Rotary International to occur in Minneapolis. If you are interested in helping Please let a board member know so we can put you in touch with the organizing committee. This event happening in Minneapolis would help us grow our club by increasing the local awareness of Rotary in our community.
FOUR-WAY TEST
Of the things we think, say, or do:
1. Is it the truth?
2. Is it fair to all concerned?
3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
ROTARIAN CODE Of CONDUCT
The following code of conduct has been adopted for the use of Rotarians:
As a Rotarian,
1. I will act with integrity and high ethical standards in my personal and professional life.
2. Deal fairly with others and treat them and their occupations with respect.
3. Use my professional skills through Rotary to: mentor young people, help those with special needs, and improve people's quality of life in my community and in the world.
4. Avoid behavior that reflects adversely on Rotary or other Rotarians.
5. Help maintain a harassment-free environment in Rotary meetings, events, and activities, report any suspected harassment, and help ensure non-retaliation to those individuals that report harassment.
THE OBJECT OF ROTARY
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
First The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
Second High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
Third The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
Fourth The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

In August the Board Recommended and the Club ratified three significant actions. They are:
1) In October we will reduce the number of meetings to three per month and they will be the first three weeks.
2) We will make attendance by Zoom available for members to also attend our meetings remotely as the rest meet in person. The equipment purchase cost is now anticipated to be about $300.00.
3) In order to balance our annual budget, all Rotarians in the Club will either work a day with the Lyons at the Minnesota State Fair or they will make an additional contribution to the operating budget of $50.00 in August 2023.
It was also announced that the DISTRICT DIRECTOR Jewlie Grape will be at the club meeting on October 9, 2023.
Our Speakers Committees for Third and Fourth Quarters are:
Quarter 3: Ben, John S, Steve Springer, Dave D, Jenni Ebert, Dwain, Erik Fadden, Tony Farah
Quarter 4: Florin, Virginia, Peter, Mike Bauer, Steve B, Jim Bird, Jason, Russ, Meena, Jim Crenna, Alex Tittle
Each Quarterly Committee should elect a chair and find speakers for their quarter.
Please also remember that Rotary Quarters are FISCAL quarters so the first quarter begins in July, the second in October the Third begins in January and the fourth in April. I am sure someone in the RI org chart wants it to be more confusing but reasonable minds may differ.
