Last Thursday's guest speaker was Artist, Justin Hammer. It was a beautiful event. Here is a link to his website: www.justinhammerart.com
You can still get in on buying some of his very colorful art. This art is special because it brings moving color to a room and because it has numerous colors in each painting or print, it will fit in most any decor. There is a way to buy on line from his studio.
At the event we raised nearly $300.00 for the Rotary International Foundation. We are hoping more will still trickle in on the phone case orders and other purchases on-line.
I am told this has historically been Foundation Month where we stress the need to contribute to the Rotary Foundation and what the money is for and how that all works. To over simplify, Rotary International has a foundation. We send them money as members of a local club. This is what funds the big grants for international projects and scholarships. This is the source of the Paul Harris awards for people who contribute $1,000 in a year. Here money we send in is retained and earnings are used to support the management of the support organization. Then after a period of time, some is available to use for grants.
Our Rotary Club of Plymouth Minnesota also has a Foundation that is separate from the International Foundation. It has a sub account for the Heart Safe project of our club. This RCOP foundation is also separate from the Club’s operating funds, which is a separate account in a separate bank handled by separate people. Approval to spend Foundation money comes from a recommendation of a committee to the Foundation Committee who then consider the opportunity, vote on it and decide if they recommend that funds should be spent. If they do, they pass it to the board to make the final decision. No individuals have the power to make such decisions. Any money contributed is carefully safeguarded and wisely administered to the very best of leadership's communal ability.

The board is considering having hybrid meeting capabilities. If this is of interest to you please let John or Glen know as soon as possible. There may be a charge for virtual attendance as appropriate camera and sound equipment may be needed and the club also may determine a fee is important as a matter of equity.
We will be seeking volunteers to work with the presents with Public Safety program again this year as well as discussing the approval of the funds for that project at this up comming meeting.
