Meetings are Thursdays starting at Noon with room opening at 11:45 am

NOW LOCATED AT the Plymouth Community Center.
14800 34th Ave N, Plymouth, MN 55447

Club members: Please remember all of the great service and attention we have received from the Comfort Inn and their staff when recommending places to stay in town. Please also give them a good review as a way to thank them for hosting us so faithfully each week through the pandemic and making it a healthy environment for us that whole time we met there. A 5-star review on Google or choicehotels.com would be appreciated by them I am certain. We have asked them to become a corporate member and they are considering it.

GOT A FAMILY MEMBER OR NEIGHBOR THAT TALKS TOO MUCH LIKE ME???
DO YOU KNOW A WORLD CLASS BLOVIATOR like Warren G. Harding??
Maybe you know a nicely nebulous nabob of negativity like the nefarious network neighbors of Spiro T. Agnew?
Do you know someone who can tell us if CBD had any part of Buzz Aldrin being known as "Buzz?" Or was that an AED?
Maybe you know someone who would like to read the notes of Paul IV from the Council of Trent to us.
How about someone who can tell us about overhauling a flat head Ford or a Softail Harley?
They may be just who we need!!! The guys below definitely are.
WE NEED MORE SPEAKERS NOW.

Please let us know if you know of a good speaker for our club.  We have the letter prepared to send to you in word format so all you need to do is address it and sign and send it to the speaker confirming the date. We also have thank you gifts in the form of our Rotary Luggage tags.

Note that we announced in the meeting last week and in the bulletin the week before that we have an application by Christina Hallquist, which no one has objected to. The board provisionally approved her application by e-mail almost immediately when it was submitted and there has been nobody objecting to her application in the two week notice period. Absent any objection her membership will be finally approved.

Note: our next happy hour will be at Rock Elm Tavern next Wednesday. We will then be planning our next social events.

Thank you!

Please check your heart. Is it beating?
If it is you should be giving to the Rotary Club of Plymouth Foundation so that if it suddenly stops someday there will be someone who is trained and has the equipment available to get it started again.

Heart Safe Note:
Training Sessions
The training sessions below are set for 7-8:15 p.m. on the second floor of the Plymouth Public Safety Building, 3400 Plymouth Blvd. Class sizes are limited to 25 participants. To register, visit Eventbrite.

Thursday, November 10, 2022 Medicine Lake Conference Room
Thursday, November 17, 2022 Council Chambers

Note that these fill up quickly so sign up soon and volunteer to hep as much as you can. It is preferable not to have to be the one on the floor needing the CPR. The only thing worse is if there is no one trained to do the CPR and still be there on the floor anyway.

We had a great presentation to the Plymouth City Counsel where our Heart Safe Committee gave the City the Automatic Electronic Defibrillators. They will be used in the new City Center.

WHAT HAS OUR CLUB DONE FOR THE COMMUNITY LATELY? We have just this week approved a grant to buy two picnic tables for Mission Nursing Home of Plymouth. These will replace ones that are dangerous for elderly nursing home patients that would like to use them with their family members during this good weather season. We are buying two tables as requested. As to each table
  1.  It is shipped unassembled.
  2. Mission staff will assemble when it is received.
  3. The optional kit to secure it to the concrete pad is not necessary.
  4. The table is 400+ pounds.  It’s not going anywhere.
  5. This product is similar to the By The Yard products made here in MN.
  6. Carol checked with By The Yard, and the only picnic table they have is a one piece, hexagonal shaped table with attached seating.  Not possible for those using wheelchairs/walkers to access. These are better for our purpose.
  7. This product is what is used by the City of Plymouth in their parks.
  8. It is rated to be outdoors in MN 24/7.
  9. These tables are ADA compliant.

We have another grant application from another deserving entity the committee is reviewing as well. More details will be coming soon.

By being a member of Rotary you are a part of an organization that is constantly doing something good for other people.
You matter to us and so does your participation.
Please make a huge effort to attend the weekly meetings and to bring a guest.
Everyone needs to eat lunch occasionally, including your potential guests.
Our humor and our useful information from our speakers make the lunch event an event in anyone's week.
Your Rotary friends would like to meet your other friends.
Please invite someone!

TALKING POINTS:

What is Rotary and WHY WOULD ANYONE CARE?
Rotary is a philanthropic organization that has a core group of committed volunteers in nearly every developed city in the world, who work to make their community a better place.
Here are 3 reasons for your friends to care:
  1. If you have moved here from somewhere else, and you join a local club, you can plan and do projects involving friends locally with those from anywhere you came from.
  2. Or for another example, when your local food shelf needs something, or someone, who can they ask and where do volunteers come from? Rotary Clubs supply money and volunteers for all sorts of our community charities.
  3. Rotary tries to measure everything with its four-way test. 1) Is it the truth? 2) Is it fair to all concerned? 3) Will it build good will and better friendships? 4) Will it be beneficial to all concerned? If something fails in any of those dimensions, it does not meet Rotary’s high-quality standards. We have been honored and welcomed to join.

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY
The Object of Rotary is to encourage
and foster the ideal of service as a
basis of worthy enterprise and, in
particular, to encourage and foster:
First The development of
acquaintance as an opportunity for

of all useful occupations, and
the dignifying of each Rotarian's
occupation as an opportunity to

world fellowship of business and
professional persons united in the
ideal of service.
