Club members: Please remember all of the great service and attention we have received from the Comfort Inn and their staff when recommending places to stay in town. Please also give them a good review as a way to thank them for hosting us so faithfully each week through the pandemic and making it a healthy environment for us that whole time we met there. A 5-star review on Google or choicehotels.com would be appreciated by them I am certain. We have asked them to become a corporate member and they are considering it.
Here is our Speaker Calendar for the immediate future.
We have Angelina Amerigo as our speaker this week to tell us about plastic pollution and the Miss Minnesota pageant.

James Williams: Service Above Self
We, as long-time members of The Rotary Club of Plymouth, have had a continuing opportunity to observe James Williams as a member of our Club for over two decades. What have we experienced: a listener, before a talker; a coalition builder; a band leader, rather than a one-man band; a participant by doing rather than telling; always accepting the principle that the other side has the right to be heard, regardless of his own perspective or opinion on an issue or project.
Throughout the years he has unselfishly given of his time, his talent, and his treasure, to serve the residents of Plymouth thru our focus on Youth, Education, and Community Health. We have given more than 130 scholarships to Plymouth Area Students, supplied playground equipment, provided camp scholarships and meal programs, protected the environment thru our Highway Cleanup Program, and trained over 6,900 area residents in our “hands only CPR and use of AED’s program.” James has always been a direct participant in and/or a supporter of each of these endeavors. He is a doer, not a talker, and continues to build goodwill and better friendships by his awareness, involvement, and commitment to Plymouth’s community needs.
There is no disconnect between the rhetoric of his words and the reality of his actions. He combines intellect and diplomacy to achieved desired ends, all the while always trying to discern if the policy and/or program will be fair and beneficial to all concerned.
A thirty (30) year resident of Plymouth, as well as a former business owner in our community, he knows the City well, and its current needs and its future requirements. He shares the challenges that impact all residents of Plymouth, be they public safety or infrastructure enhancement; and he is the leader that can prioritize solutions and gain mutual agreement on the best path forward.
Multiply the goodness, and elect James Williams to the Ward 4 Plymouth City Council Seat!
Thank you.

Thank you!
Please check your heart. Is it beating?
If it is you should be giving to the Rotary Club of Plymouth Foundation so that if it suddenly stops someday there will be someone who is trained and has the equipment available to get it started again.
Heart Safe Note:
Training Sessions
The training sessions below are set for 7-8:15 p.m. on the second floor of the Plymouth Public Safety Building, 3400 Plymouth Blvd. Class sizes are limited to 25 participants. To register, visit Eventbrite.
Thursday, November 10, 2022 Medicine Lake Conference Room
Thursday, November 17, 2022 Council Chambers
Note that these fill up quickly so sign up soon and volunteer to hep as much as you can. It is preferable not to have to be the one on the floor needing the CPR. The only thing worse is if there is no one trained to do the CPR and still be there on the floor anyway.
We had a great presentation to the Plymouth City Counsel where our Heart Safe Committee gave the City the Automatic Electronic Defibrillators. They will be used in the new City Center.
WHAT HAS OUR CLUB DONE FOR THE COMMUNITY LATELY? We have just this week approved a grant to buy two picnic tables for Mission Nursing Home of Plymouth. These will replace ones that are dangerous for elderly nursing home patients that would like to use them with their family members during this good weather season. We are buying two tables as requested. As to each table
It is shipped unassembled.
Mission staff will assemble when it is received.
The optional kit to secure it to the concrete pad is not necessary.
The table is 400+ pounds. It’s not going anywhere.
This product is similar to the By The Yard products made here in MN.
Carol checked with By The Yard, and the only picnic table they have is a one piece, hexagonal shaped table with attached seating. Not possible for those using wheelchairs/walkers to access. These are better for our purpose.
This product is what is used by the City of Plymouth in their parks.
It is rated to be outdoors in MN 24/7.
These tables are ADA compliant.
We have another grant application from another deserving entity the committee is reviewing as well. More details will be coming soon.
By being a member of Rotary you are a part of an organization that is constantly doing something good.
TALKING POINTS:
What is Rotary and WHY WOULD ANYONE CARE?
Rotary is a philanthropic organization that has a core group of committed volunteers in nearly every developed city in the world, who work to make their community a better place.
Here are 3 reasons for your friends to care:
If you have moved here from somewhere else, and you join a local club, you can plan and do projects involving friends locally with those from anywhere you came from.
Or for another example, when your local food shelf needs something, or someone, who can they ask and where do volunteers come from? Rotary Clubs supply money and volunteers for all sorts of our community charities.
Rotary tries to measure everything with its four-way test. 1) Is it the truth? 2) Is it fair to all concerned? 3) Will it build good will and better friendships? 4) Will it be beneficial to all concerned? If something fails in any of those dimensions, it does not meet Rotary’s high-quality standards. We have been honored and welcomed to join.
THE OBJECT OF ROTARY
The Object of Rotary is to encourage
and foster the ideal of service as a
basis of worthy enterprise and, in
particular, to encourage and foster:
First The development of
acquaintance as an opportunity for
service;
Second High ethical standards
in business and professions, the
recognition of the worthiness
of all useful occupations, and
the dignifying of each Rotarian's
occupation as an opportunity to
serve society;
Third The application of the ideal of
service in each Rotarian's personal,
business, and community life;
Fourth The advancement of
international understanding,
goodwill, and peace through a
world fellowship of business and
professional persons united in the
ideal of service.
If you are receiving this Bulletin and you are no longer a member, or never were a member, the reason it is coming to you is that we want you to consider becoming a member now. We want you in our club. If no one has personally said it recently, consider this your invitation to come as soon as you can. You are important to us.
