This Week's Program:

Speaker this week

Dr. Chris Pennel

University of Minnesota, Masonic Cancer Center

You can find future speakers later in the bulletin (and on the Club website).  Please use this list to invite prospective members.

Membership Recruitment:

At the December 12, 2019, Board meeting the Board had a lengthy discussion on membership and the need to engage the current membership in recruiting new members.  Based on this discussion, the Board approved a new program:  If a current member recruits a new member and that member signs on for a full pay membership the current member will receive a one quarter waiver on dues.  The definition of a full pay member is a member that pays dues and meals on a quarterly basis, not pay-as-you go.    If you have questions, please ask either James or Peter.

Mentoring (One-on-One meetings):

The second round of mentoring one-on-one's is upon us.  Please see the attached link for your two connections and plan to meet with your two members over the next two month.  Please look at the January/February columns.

Once you have met, please send a brief email to Steve Beachler to let him know that the meeting(s) have occurred.  You should have received a similar email from Steve with additional information.

Board Activity:

Board Minutes can be found on the Club Website in the members area (upper right corner of the website).  If you can't remember your member login and password please reach out to Dwain or Steve J.

At the October 10th Board meeting the Board had a discussion on cost incurred by the club for our Thursday meetings at Crown Plaza.  After a healthy discussion, the Board determined that the best plan moving forward is to increase lunches from $15 to $18 and to increase quarterly dues by $15.  The recent statement that you received earlier this month reflects this change.  This increase was also discussed at the regular meeting on the 10th and although no one likes increased costs and fee, the members at the meeting agreed that the increase was necessary to cover costs.  Please ask a board member if you have questions.

Rotary Foundation update:

Message from Bruce Behm:
A)     Our giving is picking up and we are slightly ahead of our FYE 2019 giving.
-          So far 9 members have made their annual contribution (Thank You!), we are around 40% of our goal of $365/member.
-          If you want to get your donation in this calendar year, we are down to about 10 days.
-          Just go to Rotary.org -sign in and make your donation with a credit card.

B)      Please give some thought to nominating a Paul Harris Fellowship for
one of our Members who you feel is deserving and one non-Member who exemplifies the Spirit of Rotary.  We’ll talk more about this after the first of the year.

Thank you for your support

The 4-Way Test:  Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned.

Thank you to everyone that participates in the meetings.
