Please remember that it is each club member's duty to bring a speaker or two each year. We are now dividing into quarterly teams for this purpose. More information will be distributed soon. We also will be requiring a volunteer for Club Secretary to manage the bulletins and the speakers when our new administration begins.
We now have invitation cards for our members to invite friends and colleagues to come and hear our great speakers. Please grab a couple, fill them out and give them to your friends, relatives and colleagues. This will be a lot less work, a lot more fun and a lot better for Plymouth if we have a lot more members. We must all do our part now in recruiting.
Note we have two new member applications:
Steve Springer and Mary Ellen Martinsen. At the next Board Meeting the board will vote to accept their applications. Please get to know them as soon as you can. Speak to a board member as always, if you have any questions or concerns about anything. Our newest members are Neha Markanda and Bruce Warren. Please get to know them right away and help get them involved with the club.
The Scholarship committee is recommending all of the candidates be granted scholarships and Dr. Chettar is funding an extra one to accomplish this. WOW!! Thank you Mena!!!
Another Crucial Note from Carol:

If you were unable to take in a portion of District 1060’s conference in the UK last Saturday, they have provided a link to the day’s events.  The link is below.  I joined them for the afternoon events which is when Javier Fernandez, our Global Grant Scholar made his presentation, although I know they had good speakers in the earlier portion of the day.  The presentation I found of particular interest was given by a British Rotarian Michael Jackson – although he said he goes by “Mike Jackson” as it confuses people if he is introduced as Michael Jackson and then comes out using his crutches.  You see, Michael (Mike) Jackson is a polio survivor.  Many people in our country today have no memories of when the polio epidemic was rampant in this country – before the first Salk vaccine.  Some years ago District 5950 partnered with the Courage Kenny Foundation to present a “Polio Survivors Conference.”  I have a clear memory of one of the participants telling us that they suffered from “the forgotten disease.”  And in many respects, polio in this country is the forgotten disease.

Here is the link to the District 1060 Conference.  If you are interested in hearing from their Michael Jackson, click on the image of “District 1060 Conference Evening Session.”  Michael Jackson is on at 14:25.  Javier, our Global Scholar is on at 48:15.  Thanks to District 1060 for sharing their day with us.

WHAT IS ROTARY ABOUT?
THE OBJECT OF ROTARY
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
First The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
Second High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
Third The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
Fourth The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

ROTARIAN CODE Of CONDUCT

The following code of conduct has been adopted for the use of Rotarians:

As a Rotarian,

1. I will act with integrity and high ethical standards in my personal and professional life.

2. Deal fairly with others and treat them and their occupations with respect.

3. Use my professional skills through Rotary to: mentor young people, help those with special needs, and improve people's quality of life in my community and in the world.

4. Avoid behavior that reflects adversely on Rotary or other Rotarians.

5. Help maintain a harassment-free environment in Rotary meetings, events, and activities, report any suspected harassment, and help ensure non-retaliation to those individuals that report harassment.

THE FOUR-WAY TEST
Of the things we think, say, or do:
1. Is it the truth?
2. Is it fair to all concerned?
3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
