10:45 Board Meeting
Thursday 11/11/21 Today's Speaker Rep. of Valor Place by Charles Cudd Homes: An exciting new residential development in Plymouth.
Please welcome our new members Vikki Bleise and Shawn Ruby CPA. I hope you will seek each of them out at our next meeting.
We have a new member application from Weston Hallenberg. He is a CPA who appears to focus on business, personal, estate and trust taxes.
This is the second week notice of his application. Please contact Glen Norton or John Schoonover with questions or concerns as soon as possible.
Thank you for donating and helping with the club's fundraiser....a total of $22,500-plus was raised!
Over the last 20 years we have raised nearly $725,000 and given 100% of our profits to organizations, mostly supporting youth and education and Community Health. Thank you to Jim Crenna for coordinating. Please see emails from Jim regarding distributions of prizes. The winners are listed on our website.
If you have unsold Raffle tickets the coupons are still good! hand them out to people who may use them and who would benefit or who might become new members.
The week before last Thursday our guest speaker was Artist, Justin Hammer. It was a
beautiful event. Here is a link to his website:
www.justinhammerart.com It is worth looking at especially as you prepare for holiday shopping!! Good art no longer has to break the bank nor is it something that just stays on your wall. Really! Look at the cell phone covers when you can. You can see yours in one of his skins.
At the event we raised nearly $300.00 for the Rotary International Foundation. We seek to add $291.00 to make it an ever $600.00 to give to the District Governor from the 6 Rotary Clubs in Attendance the week before last. Please bring a check on Thursday to RCOPF for this and also for Warm Hearts Warm Hands below.
Historically we pass the hat and take Club Member donations for Warm Heads, Warm Hands &
Warm Hearts and the Club Foundation makes up the difference up to approximately $300. This is used to purchase (in bulk) gloves and hats at a very discounted price which is negotiated by the Edina-Morningside Rotary. We then give half of our allotment to IOCP & half to PRISM.
If you get the check to Jim he will mail back to you a tax receipt. Because when we buy the art we process it through his web site, and some or all of the money is for merchandise, I do not believe it is proper for that tax receipt there.
We voted unanimously yes to support Presents for Public Safety grant this year of $2,000.00 so that kids can again go shopping with a public safety officer from Plymouth. They will have a fun life long memory of holiday cheer buying gifts for their family and wrapping them for the holiday season with the help of a fireman or police officer. This is another way we are making Plymouth a better place to live and work that we can talk about when we tell people why they want to join us on Thursdays for lunch.
I am told this has historically been Foundation Month where we stress the need to contribute to the Rotary Foundation. Last week we had a great discussion of what the foundations are, and what the grant writing process is and how the board functions.

VIRTUAL ATTENDANCE
The board is considering having hybrid meeting capabilities. If this is of interest to you please let John or Glen know as soon as possible. There may be a charge for virtual attendance as appropriate camera and sound equipment may be needed and the club also may determine a fee is important as a matter of equity.
