Great news on our video (soon to be posted on District web and Facebook page)....District Governor Marianna Khauv replied to Peter with the following:

"Thank you for your email and thank you for sharing this with me.  It is a great testimonial video.  August is the Rotary Membership Month. I am sharing it with our District Membership Chair, Doug Mcelrath, and our District Public Image Chair, Jeff Hage.  Thank you for all that you do to promote Rotary!"

Below is an update from Peter who had a meeting with Tim at Luce Line on Monday:

The following comments pertain to this meeting:

1-He has created "A Center for the Community, Not a Community Center!"  This is a great positioning platform!

2-He indicated that the Minneapolis Foundation will be the initial fund raising depository for monies raised.

3-I asked him to present his proposal for Luce Line at a forthcoming Rotary Meeting, and I asked for a copy of what he is proposing and what he is requesting.  He said he would email me a document on the project.

4-I asked him to join the Plymouth Rotary Club, but he declined, at least for the moment, as he trying to build "An Affinity Group" of multiple users and stakeholders:  Bikers/Runners/Chess Players/Founding Members/Lions/Rotarians/Etc.

5-He was amendable to the idea of having some/all Plymouth Rotary Club meetings at his facility.  He is buying or has purchased his own food truck, which will be in place later this year.

6-He is formulating a "Community Committee" (my term) to organize the fund raising program.  He will be on the Committee, but not its Chairman.  The process of execution:

A-Formulate a Budget

B-Develop Project Materials

C-Utilize appropriate Legal Counsel

D-Create Drawings for the Proposed Project

E-Draft A Letter of Understanding

7-The Project, itself, as I understand it entails the following components:

A-Parking Expansion

B-Better Access to Trails

C-Pickle Ball/Volley Ball Courts

D-Green Space Creation

E-Develop Community-Based Programs:  An Eagle Scout Connection

8-Our direct interest should be a focus on his customers:  age 25-40:  this is the market target that we must get into Rotary

9-He spoke of the Plymouth Lions Club and how much money they have raised thru pull tabs.  Where do they set up for this revenue source?

10-Next Steps for The Plymouth Rotary Club:

A-We should absolutely get on board with this endeavor

B-He offered two positions to The Plymouth Rotary Club for membership on the Project Steering Committee:  One an Attorney/One that has an interest in the Project.  With all the talent and expertise we have in our Club, we should have for three spots.

C-He envisions a mid October start, so we need a Club commitment now.

11-I reviewed Jim Crenna's fund raising package, and asked him for a donation!

He then took me on a lengthy walking tour of the grounds and the envisioned project.

When you go for a beer, introduce yourself to Tim, and tell him he can count on The Plymouth Rotary Club to make his program, and ours a success.

Our goals:

1-Get in front of the next generation of talent, and recruit them to the Club.

2-Get our membership brochures at his cash registers.

3-Continue our tradition of community support.

Thanks,
Peter R. Bartling

1  Is it the TRUTH?

4  Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
