We have no meeting this week. However, those that are interested will be meeting at Jake's (Fernbrook and Highway 55) 4:45pm for an Off Thursday Get Together. Please let me know if you plan on attending.
Our February 18 Meeting:
Invocation was provided by Steve Beachler followed by introductions (we had nine guest this week - listed below) and the card game by Don Weber, no card game winner this week. Jim Crenna presented trivia this week and a number of members had happy fines. Answers to the riddles this week: 1) Dictionary; 2) Your Heart; and 3) Night and Day. As always if you want the actual riddles you will need to go to last weeks bulletin.
Guests this week were: Molly Flaig and Phil Huston (speakers); Steve Rosengren (friend of Pat Knight and prospective member) and Steve Webb (prospective member)
This week we heard from Molly Flaig and Phil Huston. They presented information on lung cancer and A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation.
In 2007, a small group of lung cancer patients, along with committed family members and their caregivers from Fairview Southdale Hospital, created the first Twin Cities Lung Run/Walk. The success of this event led to the formation of A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation in 2008. Thanks to a talented and committed volunteer board of directors and the addition of professional staff in 2012, A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation has grown steadily.
A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation knows that increased research efforts and public awareness will improve the survivor rate. Most of our board of directors and growing family of supporters, now numbering over 10,000, have experienced lung cancer or have lost a loved one to this deadly cancer. We continue our endeavors to make every second count, to believe each step is a breath of hope, and to share our compassion and support with all who are impacted by lung cancer, regardless of smoking status.
Peter Bartling has agreed to renew his grant management training and Ben Rischall will attempt to if his surgery goes well. Thank you to Peter and Ben.
For a Rotary Club to apply for matching district grants, someone in the club needs to have attended a Grant Management Seminar. Below are the upcoming dates:
