The following is from the City of Plymouth Facebook post on December 29, 2020:

With mixed emotions, we announce the retirement of Public Safety Director/Police Chief Mike Goldstein following a landmark career that spanned nearly three decades. His last day with the city comes at the end of January.

Raised in Plymouth, Mike has devoted his entire professional life to the city – beginning as a Plymouth Police Explorer in 1984 and working all the way to the highest position with the Police Department.

Mike has been a pillar of the community and his steadfast service will have lasting impact on the residents and businesses of Plymouth.

“I’m still inspired to come into work every day,” he said. “I could not be prouder of the women and men who serve this department with pride and excellence every day. If I could sum up in a word how I feel about the opportunity I’ve had to serve this community, it would be ‘gratitude.’”

Thank you, Mike, for everything you’ve done for Plymouth. We wish you all the best on your well-earned retirement.
